D-Day Minus 7

In the beginning, was the lunch (and the breakfast, the dinner and the in-between treats). And the blogger saw that it was good, and ate plenty of it. But all good things must come to an end (apparently), and lo! - the day of reckoning has arrived!

And so I find myself approximately 7 days away from beginning the 'diet from hell'. Why 7 days away? Well, this particular form of food-deprivation involves a blood test which will apparently reveal the long-lost secrets of my metabolic rate. (Yes, I've found a diet that not only manages to bleed you dry financially, it also goes the whole-hog and sticks a needle in your arm as well.)

So now I sit and wait for some (no doubt slim and lovely) nutritionist to look at my blood results and conclude that either;

a: I should be clinically dead, given the amount of cholestrol in my system, or
b: I can be saved (hallelujah!), but only by chewing flax seeds and eschewing fish and chips for the rest of my life.

Oh, the joy.

But for now, it's a waiting game. Waiting to be given my blood-results and my personal eating plan. And wondering how to prepare myself for the inevitable famine that lies ahead. Obviously, a last supper is called for. A blow-out of biblical proportions. But what to eat? Mmmm. I'll get back to you on that one...
